 Founded in 2023

Our goal is to make homemade cards for hospitalized children and children living in shelters, in hope to brighten their day.

The name BEaUTiFLi stems from the words "beautify" and "butterfly."

Butterflies represent hope and happiness,  which are symbols we want the cards to exude.

HOW DID IT START?

My name is Liam Kakuda, the founder of BEaUTiFLi.  I wanted to create a way to help the community.  I knew for it to be successful, the idea must embody something I love.  My mom sparked an idea of making cards.  I was hesitant at first, but then I began to fall in love with the idea.

A little background about me.  I grew up making cards for my parents on birthdays and anniversaries.  Watching their smiles stretch across their faces when they read my handmade cards was so rewarding.  I started in elementary school and continued throughout high school.

My cards are simple, cartoony, colorful, and cute.  You can't help but smile when you see the cards; the images are easy to understand and the message is simple and playful.  The happiness and joy my cards have brought to my parents have been something I wanted to share with others,  especially children who need a little joy in their day.

I chose to give back to hospitalized children and children living in shelters because I believe these children need a little joy in their lives.  These children are going through some of the toughest challenges at that age.  They are dealing with an adverse situation with no simple answer.  Since I cannot solve their problems, I can give them a card to brighten up their day and card making kit to empower them to share joy with others.

The pay it forward model allows joy and hope to spread, BEaUTiFLi -ing the world one card at a time.

WHY OUR BOARD?

When deciding on a board and essential roles, two important people came to mind:  Rudra Patel and Shahmeer Khan.  They exemplify the ability of wanting to excel and achieve greatness, in academics and in their personal lives.  Their skills were transferable to BEaUTiFLi.

Rudra's desire to solve problems and execute ideas were instrumental to when starting the non-profit.

Shahmeer is not one to shy away from presenting his ideas and asking for help to ensure success.

To be great is to be able to learn from others with open arms, to listen tentatively without judgements,  to follow when the situation arise, and to lead when necessary.

We complement each others strength and that has been a great access for BEaUTiFLi.
